RA-D2
If I needed confirmation that I'm doing the right thing in becoming a wing parent, I found it. As it turns out, the wing I was given is the same wing I lived in my freshman year. I met the three freshmen girls in the lobby and I talked to them for a while, comparing notes about what and is before they showed me up to their wing and their room.
I did notice that the room was set up in the familiar base style that freshmen usually use, but it wasn't until the RA arrived and mentioned that the wing included the RD's room that I realized this room is the exact same room that was mine that fateful semester.
Funny how time can seem so immediate and distant all at once.
I didn't tell them anything more than that it had been my room and that it's interesting that the RD still has her station in that wing. We talked about Dr. Russell and how he broke the curse of the Econ professor. We talked about Dr. Walker leaving PHC for a school in CA that he left soon after realizing it isn't actually Christian. One of the girls is from CA, so we talked about Japanese gardens and sister cities. And all of this in that very room.
We spent about an hour together, then I said I had to go. The RA and I talked a little afterwards, I'm hoping to go back with another set of care packages when the freshmen start their tri-term exams. I plan to personalize that a little more, now that I know how many girls there are.
Maybe I'll give them each a bowl and bring icecream. That could be fun!
